Sweetest Baptism Cake for my Sweet 8 Year Old

In September our little Razy was baptized as a member of The Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. It was a sweet and special day. And she got a sweet and special cake to go with it.

Perfect Spring Wedding Cake

Last spring my nephew got married. He and his bride asked that I make a cake for their open house. They were married in Portland and Katie had someone make their wedding cake. The wedding and the cake were beautiful. When they came to Washington for their other reception I wanted a cake that would impress. I couldn't just make one cake. I wanted a cake buffet! Here is what I came up with.

Fablehaven Birthday Cake

Do we have any Brandon Mull fans out there? How about Fablehaven? My oldest loves Fablehaven. Fablehaven will forever be a family favorite and I will forever be grateful to Brandon Mull. Lil E struggled with reading until he discovered Fablehaven. He was in 3rd grade when he began reading the series. At the time he was barely a 3rd grade reading level. He fell in love with the books and couldn't stop reading. In one year he jumped up a grade in reading and now he is excelling in reading. Now in 5th grade he is reading at a 7th grade reading level. I actually made this cake June of 2014 when he was in 4th grade.it has just taken me forever to post it.

Frozen Birthday Cake

I can't believe I never posted Razy's 7th birthday cake. I am BEHIND. This was a cake that received lots of approval not only from my little girl, but from many other little girls. It was so popular that I was asked to duplicate it 2 months later for another little girl we know that was turning 11.

Pleated Buttercream CTR cake

This week our little girl was baptized.  With each of our children's 8th birthdays, their cake has been a CTR cake that we have presented after their baptism. I was a little worried how this one would turn out because I wanted to keep things simple.  I didn't want to do fondant and with time not on my side I needed it to be something I could decorate fairly quickly.  I love how it turned out and I plan to make another cake with the pleated buttercream technique.

Mema and Aunti dared her to take a big bite out of it after we sang Happy Birthday.  Silly girl did so!!

This year she chose a WASC cake with Raspberry cream cheese filling. Chocolate cake with cookies and cream filling and frosted in Fluffy American Buttercream.

Lego Birthday Cake

Got a Lego lover in your home?  Here is a super fun cake.  The Lego blocks were made with modeling chocolates poured into Lego molds.  The Lego tiles on the cake were just fondant.  The cake plate was covered in fondant that was pressed by a Lego mat.

Love this Lego loving kiddo

40th Hawaiian Cake

Happy 40th to my sister. Per request of her husband. He wanted a Hawaiian cake so he could surprise her with a trip to Hawaii. Thanks to my Aunt I got to try my hand at her airbrush machine. It was fun adding the extra depth to the flowers and leaves and creating the bamboo.

Oh and just for the record. Don't put your cakes into a mini refrigerator and turn the temp down. I learned this the hard way and we had a puddle of water on the back side of the cake. Luckily it didn't ruin it from the front and it was just melted ice on the fondant that was taken off anyways on a small portion of the cake. So glad this didn't happen to me with a customer.

Missionary White Shirt Cake

I am about to show my age. After I graduated from high school my first church calling ( assignment) was the teacher of the Sunbeams. This was the 3 year old class in the primary. Well one of my Sunbeams is now getting ready to leave for a two year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. This was the cake I made for his mission farewell open house. Everything on the cake is edible including the missionary tag, The Book of Mormon, and the Called to Serve.

Cake Ball Wedding Cake

This was a fun cake that I just finished making for my nephews wedding reception. Very fun unique cake. Each of those bubbles are actually a cake ball, or known to others as a cake pop. This cake had roughly 15 dozen cake balls on it. It had 8 flavors: chocolate, white sour cream almond, chocolate raspberry, chocolate orange, chocolate mint, strawberry, lemon, and cookies and cream.
It was the perfect cake for this fun couple.
Originally I had made a bunch of quilled fondant flowers. However it was so warm in the venue that they just wouldn't stay on the cake. I still think that it turned out pretty good.

White and Purple Tiered Cake

We had a talent/variety show at church not to long ago.  I really wanted to make a cake.  There are people who know I make cakes, but for the most part alot of people didn't know.  Here is what I came up with.  Cake covered in fondant and piped in white. Then fondant flowers with purple fondant centers covered in purple sanding sugar.

Spider-man Cake Pops

I have found a new love for cake pops.  Let me just tell you how absolutely fun they are.  I recently had a friend ask me if I would make her 18 Spider-man cake pops for her son's 5th birthday and here are the results.  They are larger than most cake pops. They take about 3 or 4 bites to eat them.  Hopefully in the future I can add a tutorial to my page. However, there are some great tutorials out there.

Fondant Olaf from Frozen

My little niece just turned 3 and of course she had to have Frozen as her theme.  I loved the way my Sister in Law incorporated Frozen into a summer birthday.  She knows how terrible busy I get in June with my kids birthday cakes and the end of the school year so she asked a family friend to make the cake.  It was half beach and ocean and have frozen ice. She did however ask me to make an Olaf.  How cute is he?

"A drink in my hand, my snow up against the burning sand.
Probably getting gorgeously tanned in summer!"

As I type this up the kids are singing the summer song.  I love how much they love the song and know all the words and will just blurt them out whenever.

Baseball Stadium Cake

Happy 10th Birthday to My Lil' E. I can't believe he is at double digits.  This young man LOVES all things sports so it didn't surprise me that he wanted a baseball stadium for his cake.  It was a HUGE cake.  All covered in buttercream.  The bleachers are rice krispy treats covered in fondant and then I placed mini m&ms m side down for the fans.  The "dirt" for the infield was crushed graham cracker crumbs and I used a grass tip for the field grass.
