Fondant Olaf from Frozen

My little niece just turned 3 and of course she had to have Frozen as her theme.  I loved the way my Sister in Law incorporated Frozen into a summer birthday.  She knows how terrible busy I get in June with my kids birthday cakes and the end of the school year so she asked a family friend to make the cake.  It was half beach and ocean and have frozen ice. She did however ask me to make an Olaf.  How cute is he?

"A drink in my hand, my snow up against the burning sand.
Probably getting gorgeously tanned in summer!"

As I type this up the kids are singing the summer song.  I love how much they love the song and know all the words and will just blurt them out whenever.

Dainty Flowers and Boots Cake

I have been dying to try this embroidery technique.  I LOVE LOVE LOVE the way it turned out.  So dainty.  Don't you think it would be gorgeous on a white wedding cake with white embroidery?  I do. Any takers?  The boots were sculpted out of fondant.  So super cute.  I think it turned out perfectly for Dimples' 2nd Birthday.  She loves her shoes and boots.

Angry Birds Cake

I have no idea why my 8 year old REALLY wanted an Angry Birds cake for his birthday.  Funny thing is we don't even play it.  I know that it is pretty popular among his friends at school though.  Each Angry Bird was made of fondant.  The cake was covered in fondant as well.

Camping Birthday Cake

Such a fun birthday cake.  This one was for my 9 year old. He asked for a camping and fishing cake.  After much thought from Lil' E, mommy, and daddy, we came up with this cake.  Lil' E told me he wanted a pond with jello and fish crackers, a tent, and a guy fishing.  Well I am not good at all with making people so that one was out.  Daddy put his two cents in and I am glad he did.  He told me to push myself and do a pond with real water.  Well I did and I even added a little surprise for Lil' E.

I was thrilled when my idea of having the campfire really burn turned out.  All in all I LOVED this cake and it was so fun to do.  He loved it too.  I love it when my kids enjoy their cakes.

The cake was a chocolate and vanilla zebra cake, covered in fondant.  Everything (well almost everything) was edible.  The pond itself was not (for obvious reasons) edible.

Bailey's Wedding Cake

My little sister has been married now for 8 months now.  Her cake was eaten 8 months ago.  Yes I am REALLY late in posting this.  I do have a good excuse though.  I didn't take one picture! Can you believe that?  Luckily her photographer, a friend of mine, took some amazing shots.  It just took me awhile to get them to work on my computer.  So without further ado....Here is her beautiful cake.

Each of those dots you see (around 1200) were piped onto perfectly smooth buttercream.  I was so happy with how it turned out.  Even if it did take hours.

Handmade daisies to match her theme and color.

I just had to throw this one in.  No he isn't the groom, but instead my overly obnoxious, crazy, sexy husband.

Winnie the Pooh and Friends Baby Shower Cake

Winnie the Pooh Baby Shower Cake for Baby Drevin.  The Client asked for an elegant Winnie the Pooh cake with bows and characters.  The orginal plan was to sculpt just the Winnie the Pooh and put images of the characters on the side.  After sculpting the Winnie the Pooh I decided to go ahead and do the other characters. The client was so appreciative that I wanted to go over the top with it.  It pays to be thankful :) I love the way it turned out.

New technique I tried.  I have a little work on it, but I think it brings in that simple elegance to the cake.
I would like to eventually own a fondant diamond impression plate.

Fondant T-I-double G-ER

Doble asked why Eeyore was smiling.  "He is supposed to be sad", he said.

Cute little piglet
